Well hey there. Meow you doing?
Several months back, my Yankee Beau surprised me with a visit to the most adorable little spot in The District: Crumbs & Whiskers Cafe. Since then, I’ve been keeping up with them on Instagram, and I gotta tell ya—if you’re a cat person, they will give you alll the feels.
The Crumbs & Whiskers concept is simple: create a traditional coffee shop complete with lattes, macaroons, and comfy seating, and add CATS. All the fluffy, sweet kitties an animal lover could ever want, donned in dapper bow ties—and every cat at C&W is up for adoption.
SO MUCH YES.
There is an entry fee that helps cover the cost of running the cafe, which is in essence a very fun, trendy shelter. C&W was started in 2014 by a 24-year-old woman who left a cushy corporate position after realizing she wanted to do work that truly mattered—and now, with locations in both Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., they’ve saved more than 1,000 cats from euthanasia. And they do it by hosting Galentine’s Day events, kitten parties, cat yoga on the weekends, and “co-working with cats” days during the week.
Check out their website to make a reservation (between $6.50 and $22, depending on when you’re stopping by and how long you plan on
playing staying), or just give them a follow on Instagram to show support!
