How is January winding down already?! I can’t believe the first month of 2018 is almost over, but here’s some of my can’t-live-withouts of the new year. If you want to get more up close and personal with any of these, check out my insta story!
1) Warm Essentials by Cuddl Duds Thermals
I’m determined to be (slightly) more prepared for the winter temps this year. While scouring the lifestyle/fashion blogs for lists of best thermals, Cuddl Duds kept popping up as a much-loved, affordable brand—and I’m now on the bandwagon! They’re flattering, not too bulky, and warm. Pieces start as low as $16, and you can scoop them up at your local Target store. How easy is that?
2) Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara
Y’all know I love me some big eyelashes—in fact, I usually wear falsies on the weekends if I’m dressing up and heading out anywhere. This mascara came in my November Sephora Play! subscription box, and every time I use it I get asked by girlfriends and my Yankee Beau if I’m wearing false eyelashes. It’s that good.
3) Faux-Fur-Trim Down Puffer Coat – Laundry by Shelli Segal
For starters, I got this jacket in black, but I also want the white version. The hood is #SoExtra; it’s huge. You can remove the fur on days when you don’t want to be over-the-top, but why would you want to do that? It’s warm, fitted and flattering, and the faux-fur lined pockets feel like kitten paws. (Hint: it’s on a great sale right now at Macys!)
4) Royal Blue Caroline Tufted Velvet Ottoman from Target
I get it: that picture above (from the Target website) isn’t that impressive. It looks like a muted blue, plain-jane ottoman. Don’t be deceived! It’s a STUNNING, rich, royal blue ottoman that looks like something Kate Middleton would sit on to do her makeup. I actually put it in Yankee Beau’s Washington, D.C. apartment. It sits next to an oversized mirror, and I’ll eventually add a small gold bar cart and scotch service to round out his mid-cent mod vibe.
5) Amazon Echo, a.k.a. “Alexa”
This was actually my Christmas present from Yankee Beau, and funny enough, he is so obsessed with it that I’ve jokingly started referring to Alexa as his mistress! But seriously, this thing is great. I use it as my alarm in the morning, to start the coffee while I’m still in bed, and turn on a worship music playlist all throughout the house. I ask Alexa to order things from Amazon, maintain my grocery list, read step-by-step recipes out loud from food blogs while I’m cooking, keep me updated on the biggest news stories of the moment, and shut off the reading lights when it’s time for me to call it a day. I guess you could say I’ve made peace with the “other woman”…
6) Kate Spade 18-Month “She’s Always Running Fashionably Late” Agenda
Y’all, I have been using Kate Spade planners for years and I love them. Yes, I still use the calendar on my phone sometimes, but to truly get my head wrapped around my schedule I love the layout of an open paper calendar where I can see everything at once. I’ve actually kept all of my planners for the last decade; I feel like they’re journals of sorts: time-logs peppered with the names of cities I’ve visited, people I’ve celebrated, professional milestones, concerts and games. This neon-melon agenda is the perfect size, and comes loaded with gold stickers to add sparkle to the important things!
What are your must-haves this month? Do you have any of these at your house?
